Fragrance composition
Aldehydes, ylang-ylang, neroli, and citrus notes first appear on the scene. Then, delicate notes of rose, lily of the valley, and jasmine come to the forefront. The fragrance is built on a base of amber, gourmet vanilla, and warm sandalwood with oriental accords of patchouli.
History of the fragrance
Chanel N°5 women's eau de parfum was launched in 1921 by the famous fashion designer Coco Chanel. Gabrielle wanted it to reflect her childhood memories in Aubazine, France. Chemist Ernest Beaux succeeded in achieving this, creating several different samples. Gabrielle liked the fifth one best, which is where the name of the iconic fragrance comes from. The first 100 bottles were intended as gifts for the fashion designer's best clients, after which the fragrance began to be sold in the Chanel boutique. Even after 100 years on the market, Chanel N°5 is one of the most beloved perfumes in the world.
